For almost 10 years, the art community of Kazakhstan has been fighting for its own pavilion at the Venice Biennale. However, for the first time in national pavilion’s history the artists' works did not reach the exhibition on time due to logistical problems, the correspondent of Art of Her reports.

Но, к сожалению, различные логистические препятствия, остановили выставку, поскольку произведения искусства и материалы, необходимые для установки павильона, в настоящее время застряли в пути после того, как их перенаправили из-за конфликта в Украине.
«По понятным причинам на границе с Грузией большая очередь, из-за чего задерживается значительная часть нашего груза», — говорится в совместном заявлении арт-коллектива ОРТА с комиссаром павильона Меруерт Калиевой.
The pavilion itself will remain open to visitors of the biennale during the preliminary showing, but many works will be missing. The installation of the national pavilion is scheduled for 17th of May.
“Meanwhile, we have built the decoration for our performances — "Spectacular Experiments" — with materials found from local sources so that the scheduled performances can take place as planned," pointed out the organisers of the national pavilion of Kazakhstan.
The pavilion will feature the art works collection of “ORTA” artists team created in 2015, which includes Kazakhstani artists: Alexander Morozov, Rustem Begenov, Daria Dzhumelya, Alexander Bakanov and Sabina Kuangalieva. The exhibition entitled "LAI-PI-CHU-PLEE-LAPA Centre for the New Genius" is dedicated to the legacy of Sergei Kalmykov, a little-known Russian artist who worked in the first half of the 20th century.
NOTE: The main world art show will be held in Italy and will open tomorrow — April 23.
