The project precedes the release of his newest film about an artist who surgically extracts his organs in public, reports Artnet.com.

In David Cronenberg's films, the insides of the body often come out. Right now, Cronenberg is offering a photo of his newly extracted kidney stones as a one-of-a-kind NFT. Cronenberg is implementing a project on the Super Rare platform, the starting bid for a work of art is 10 Ethereum, or about $ 30,000. If someone makes an offer at this price or higher, they will launch a 24-hour auction for the final owner. Cronenberg is even thinking about dropping real stones.

"I think they are too beautiful to destroy. In the end, it's quite intimate, it comes from inside my body," the director said.

The name of NFT "Inner Beauty" refers to a quote from his 1988 film "Ringing to Death" about identical twin doctors, both gynecologists. "I don't understand why there are no beauty contests of internal organs," one of the twins says to the other at some point, "The most beautiful spleen, the best kidney."

"I see in these kidney stones a vivid narrative created by a group of my internal organs, a narrative as intimate as a person can imagine," he wrote in a statement accompanying the NFT.

"Inner Beauty" is Cronenberg's second NFT project after last year's "The Death of David Cronenberg," a creepy one-minute video he shot with his daughter that sold for about $75,000.
