Actor Adrian Brody has exhibited his work at Art Basel Miami Beach and at the Art Fair in New York. He rents an art studio in the Sunset Park neighborhood in Brooklyn, reports Аrtchive.ru.

Adrian Brody is known all over the world as an actor. He has appeared in more than forty films. The youngest winner of the Academy Award "Oscar" in the category "Best Actor in a leading role", who received it at the age of 29, as well as the second American actor in history (after Christopher Lambert), awarded the Cesar Award in the category "Best Actor".

Adrian Brody was born into a creative family. His mother Sylvia Plakhi is a photographer, and his father Elliot Brody is an artist. As a teenager, the future screen star applied to participate in the art program of the Fiorello LaGuardia High School of Music and Theater. The Faculty of Fine Arts rejected his portfolio, but the Theater and Drama department accepted it. Since then, Brody has given up painting (except for a few random graffiti).

Eight or nine years ago, when there were fewer interesting roles, Brody picked up a brush again. After many years of reconstruction of his castle in upstate New York, he invited a friend, the artist Georges Mocquet, to paint the central wall. He offered to draw with him. When Brody drew a dragon, an impressed Mock asked why his friend did not draw. Since the actor could not clearly answer this question, he decided to take up fine art again, drawing inspiration from the graffiti of his youth.

Brody prefers large abstract works. He works in mixed media, makes collages using a variety of materials that he combines on canvas or paper. "My work has a lot to do with American culture and my upbringing and growing up in New York and Queens," he says.

And although Brody is no stranger to figurative works, he still prefers abstract expressionism. "I'm a big fan of Pollock's work, I like to throw paint, be bold and find subtlety in it," explains the star. "I like that art gives me a certain degree of autonomy in creativity when I'm not playing."

Some of Adrian Brody's paintings can be seen in the film "The French Messenger" by Wes Anderson.
