March 3, 2022 in Almaty Gallery held the opening of the exhibition "Watercolor as life".

The works of Elena Yokton and Maria Sorokovskaya exhibited in the exhibition hall of Almaty Gallery are made in the most difficult painting technique - the technique of watercolor. Water color requires painter's precision, determination and emotionality: here the master's hand moves only by inspiration, it is impossible to rewrite anything, everything at once and now. The exhibition includes 42 watercolors by Elena Yokton and 34 works by Maria Sorokovskaya.

Elena Yokton and Maria Sorokovskaya work in many genres. These are landscapes, portraits, still lifes, and conventional almost abstract compositions. Sometimes they are lively fragments, emotional sketches, other times they are panoramic, full of freedom and majesty of mountains, almost epic landscapes. Both authors pay special attention to the portraits, which are emotional and lively. The image of the man is the most important theme of art, rarely seen in the modern global world that has almost lost the understanding of the value and uniqueness of the individual. In their watercolors Elena Yokton and Maria Sorokovskaya revive the interest in the world of the human soul.

Yokton Elena and Maria Sorokovskaya are members of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, participants in many watercolor International and Republican exhibitions (India, Russia, Romania, Vietnam, Malaysia, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Turkey, Czech Republic, Indonesia, etc.). Since 2018 Yokton Elena is the leader-coordinator from Kazakhstan at the watercolor festivals in Urbino and Fabriano (Italy). Maria Sorokovskaya is a participant of the 2nd Universal Watercolor Exposition (2020) IMWA, where her work "Birth" was included in the list of 100 best watercolors in the world.
