The Almaty Gallery hosted the opening of the debut exhibition of the artist Rosa Beksultanova called "Eastern Palette", the correspondent of Art of Her reports.

As part of the ongoing exhibition "Van Gogh. Secrets of a genius and a madman" in Almaty Gallery, Rosa Beksultanova presented a series of works styling famous paintings by world known artists. This is the debut exhibition of a 33-year-old Kazakh artist.

In 2012, I graduated from the Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after Zhurgenov, by profession I am a set costume designer for theatre, cinema, and television. I started my painting career while teaching. In 2015, I opened an art studio for children and painted pictures, — said Rosa Beksultanova.

The opening of the exhibition was followed with sounds of the Kazakh national instrument — dombra. For her first individual exhibition the artist has prepared 7 paintings in which she reinterpreted in the Kazakh ethnic style famous works by Matisse, Klimt, Picasso, Botticelli, Van Gogh, etc.

I have been dreaming about my personal exhibition for 3-4 years. Probably, every beginner artist is lack of confidence and has fears about the first exhibition. But I had a life event, after which I changed my worldview and began to look at many things differently," Roza Beksultanova shared.

According to the artist's idea, through the stylization of famous works, she conveys her own pain and raises important social problems in society. One of the main paintings at the exhibition called "The main professions" screams about it. With this work, Rosa Beksultanova rethought the famous work of Matisse — "Dance", where a child holds money in his hands, and his parents and people of important social professions (doctors, policemen, etc.) dance around him.

This is the main art piece of my exhibition. It's a mini story. It mostly reflects my personal fear and the pain that I had to go through. But every viewer discovers his own fears, his own pain," said Rosa Beksultanova.

The exhibition of Rosa Beksultanova "Eastern Palette" will be held at the Almaty Gallery from March 25th to April 18th, 2022.
