Canadian artist Krista Kim was the first in the world to sell a digital model of a house. Futurism reports about it.
Kim offered a non-exchangeable token (NFT) of the house, in which only virtual characters can live. The buyer gave 288 units of Ethereum cryptocurrency for it, which exceeds $520,000.
The object, called Mars House, was created by the artist while she was quarantined during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The minimalist structure, with transparent walls and furniture, is set in a Mars setting.
"I actually foresee us living in augmented reality in the near future," Kim commented on her work.
An irreplaceable token is a blockchain entry that serves as a unique identifier for the work. It attributes the work to a specific owner and allows it to be transferred to another.
