The Esentai Gallery has opened a group exhibition of contemporary art "The Time of Prophetic Dreams". This is a joint project of Kazakh and Kyrgyz artists.
The exhibition presents more than 20 works in different techniques of four main projects: the multimedia project "KESHIK_VR" by the Bishkek team "CUT A DASH", the digital project "In the Stream" by Alpamys Batyr, paintings by Orazbek Esenbayev and abstraction by Tatiana Kudryavtseva.
The project "KESHIK_VR" immerses the viewer, as in a dream, in a magical forest of sculptures, inviting to a discourse about our environment, about our role in it, about responsibility to it and how we want and can come face to face with nature.
"Keshik" in the traditions of the Kyrgyz people carries the sacred meaning of the transfer of gifts from an important toy for a person, as a desire to share good energy with their children, grandchildren, loved ones. But what will we pass on as a "cache" to our descendants, what "scraps" of the Earth will we leave? It depends on us.
"Using sculptures, we wanted to show the environmental problems of the earth, water and air. The sculptures were executed by Adil Seitaliev. We want people, especially young people, to think about this topic through interactive. What is interactive is remembered better, it is more spectacular. To do this, we used reflective fabrics. All the prints that you see, they are printed on fabric from recycled plastic bottles," said Aizhan Firsova, designer of the "CUT A DASH" team.
Despite the name, the exhibition is not related to somnology or oneirology. It shows the subjective perception of images (visual, auditory, tactile, gustatory and olfactory) arising in the consciousness of the "sleeping" artist, which reflect our reality and its facets.
"We are all present here, we are all asleep. And this dream is a nightmare for someone, a cool dream for someone, an incomprehensible dream for someone. My dreams are about something incomprehensible, but I understand that this is art," Alpamys Batyr commented on his work.
The modern viewer is again confronted with the theme of dreams. No wonder it was the children's book by the British-Mexican surrealist artist Leonora Carrington "Milk of Dreams" that set the theme for the 59th Venice Biennale of 2022.
The exhibition "The Time of Prophetic Dreams" will be held until April 15, 2022 at the Esentai Gallery (admission is free).
