An exhibition of reproductions of paintings by the Dutch post-impressionist artist Vincent Van Gogh has opened at the "Almaty Gallery", the correspondent of Art of Her reports.
More than 80 artwork reproductions of the artist in original sizes will be presented to all visitors during one month. The exhibition features both famous subjects of the master, and little-known, but no fewer great paintings. You can trace the entire creative path of Van Gogh as an artist throughout the exhibition. The official opening was held on 18th of March under the musical accompaniment of the Concert Orchestra Quartet of the Mayor of Almaty.
- Van Gogh's works has never been exhibited in Almaty on such a scale. It is very difficult to bring the originals, even to large museums. To be able to see reproductions of more than 80 works in original sizes is a unique opportunity for connoisseurs. We started with Van Gogh, because he is one of the most famous artists in the world. I believe that familiarisation with this particular artist is suitable for those who have not yet been interested in art painting or are on their way to study. We want art to be accessible to everyone," said Ainur Abugalieva, art Manager of Almaty Gallery.
A month earlier, the exhibition has been held in Nur-Sultan at the «Has Sanat» art gallery, after which it arrived at the Almaty Gallery. The exhibition is organised by the Russian company called ART-EXPO, which organises exhibition in Russia and the CIS.
- I was on a business trip in Nur-Sultan and found out about the exhibition of reproductions of Van Gogh's works in the Has Sanat gallery. I was delighted with the project and decided that I had to bring the exhibition to Almaty Gallery. We had to adjust the plan, which usually takes from six months to a year to approve. However, we have decided that we needed the exhibition right now. The exhibition "Van Gogh. Secrets of a Genius and a Madman" is our first commercial project. There will be one evening excursion every weekday, and several on weekends," Nargiz Abayevna, Director of Almaty Gallery, commented on the exhibition.
The exhibition will be held from March 18 till April 18, 2022, at Almaty Gallery. Admission fee: 1500 kzt for an adult and 1300 kzt for a children’s ticket. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 19:00.
