Artist Mimi Ilnitskaya, within the framework of Ararat Craft & Twist, together with finalist bartender Didar Mukhitov organized "The BIG ART PARTY" in the very center of Almaty, the correspondent of Art of Her reports.
Have you ever seen the animated paintings of Vincent Van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci or Sandro Botticelli? Or maybe you dreamed of talking about high personally with Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo or Yayoi Kusama? Everything is possible at "The BIG ART PARTY": art comes to life and unites in the name of goodness and peace.
"This is a great opportunity from "Ararat", when artists can express their fantasies 100%. This is a new challenge for me. Usually, I organize exhibitions where I already have a clear plan. And here I am a director, I manage several actions, I animate pictures. I really like it," said artist Mimi Ilnitskaya.
Full immersion begins from the very threshold. The guests are met by Mimi Ilnitskaya in the image of Frida Kahlo and Didar Mukhitov in the image of Frida Kahlo's husband — Diego Rivera.
"I'm her fan (ed. Frida Kahlo). I didn't think that I would be Frida, because it's so on the surface, because everyone knows that I'm crazy about her. But my friend said to me, "Damn, you're so talented. It seems to me that if Salvador Dali had fallen in love with Frida, they would have had you." That's the best compliment I've ever heard. And besides, my friend told me: "You know, you won't be at this party, so I'll be cosplaying you." It's insanely nice that someone considers me a favorite artist," Mimi Ilnitskaya shared.
And then – everything is like in the fairy tale "Alice in Wonderland". Around the revived paintings and great artists are making small talk, and not far from them, Yayoi Kusama herself is giving a lecture on contemporary art. But, it is worth looking closely at how everyone recognizes the beloved art critic Olga Baturina in the image of a Japanese artist.
"I chose this image because my favorite contemporary artist is Yayoi Kusama. Art begins with acting. Why do we need art? To be someone else, to live a different life, to go beyond reality. All literature, painting, etc. is about this. And carnivals have been the most popular of the arts since ancient times. This all involves going beyond reality (banal, everyday) and getting into a magical, fairy-tale world where everything is different, where there are no wars and conflicts, but there are feelings, beautiful and endless. What we see here today," Olga Baturina said.
After Yayoi Kusama's lecture, Leonardo Da Vinci's painting "The Last Supper" came to life. The main character – Jesus, on this day, unexpectedly for everyone, began to sing the songs of the band "Radiohead" and the Italian folk "Bella ciao". I wonder if Da Vinci planned such a continuation of the action?
Sandro Botticelli's work "The Birth of Venus" did not stand aside either. Venus not only appeared in all its glory, but also performed several musical numbers. It is now clear that Botticelli definitely rewarded Venus with vocal talent in his painting
"As an artist, I would like to convey to the viewer that art is cool. We often look at the painting "The Girl with the Pearl Earring", and we don't even know her story, what she is going through. Here (ed. «The BIG ART PARTY») you can experience it all. Paintings speak to the audience, you can even notice the process of their creation," Mimi Ilnitskaya shared.
During the original art performances, Diar Mukhitov created masterpieces of art from drinks at the bar. One of the main ones was a cocktail with gold, with the purchase of which every viewer could receive as a gift an NFT by Mimi Ilnitskaya. Especially for "The BIG ART PARTY", the artist created 3 works in an edition of 10 pieces each.
Not without modern art. Almaty Dj Midclassgypsy in the image of the works of Jean-Michel Basquiat accompanied the party with bright sets.
In conclusion, artist Mimi Ilnitskaya presented her new work specially for "The BIG ART PARTY" — a reinterpreted "Starry Night" by Van Gogh in the Almaty motive. It was she who was presented at the subsequent auction, and went under the hammer for 250,000 tenge.
It should be noted that this was only the first party of four planned in Almaty. Next time, we expect new art performances from other artists.
