A coordinated women's protest with about 1,000 attendees was held in Almaty, the correspondent of Art of Her reports.

A feminist demonstration coordinated with the local authorities has been held in Almaty for the second year in a row,. The organisers are the Kazakhstan feminist leaders such as "Feinita", "FemPoint", and "KazFem". The main theme of the peaceful demonstration is the participation of women in the governance of the state.

All participants of the agreed meeting has paid tribute in memory of the 67 victims who died at the hands of partners in 2021 with a minute of silence. During which a black coffin was brought to the stage symbolizing the depth of the happened tragedies.

The peaceful protest has been supported by many cultural figures, including artists: Suinbike Suleimenova, Madina Bazargali, Assel Kenzhetayeva, and others.

Я была первый раз на феминистском митинге. Мне очень понравилось. Обычно у людей митинг ассоциируется с чем то плохим, но это не так. Это был праздник, на который все пришли красивые и нарядные с радостными лицами. Надеюсь, что в будущем каждый плакат станет произведением искусства, возможно будет выставка плакатов с митингов. Я хочу, чтобы художницы и активистки помогали друг-другу, реализовывали совместные проекты. Я за объединение художниц и активисток (прим. ред. феминистского митинга), — рассказала художница Асель Кенжетаева.

In recent years, the posters from protest have regularly become exhibit items at major international exhibitions. The political graphics, as part of contemporary art, have long won the hearts of audience.

It is not surprising that the art has been helping to survive difficult times for a long time, inspiring people to develop their thoughts and broaden their horizons. Today, more than ever, it is important to promote the education of legal culture among the population, because it is an integral component of spiritual development.

Do we know the story behind the day of Marth 8th?

We would like to point out that 8th of March is International Women’s Day. However, not everyone knows that this holiday has great importance in the history of battle for women's independence. On March 8, 1857, thousands of women staged a strike on streets of New York, banging the empty pots. They were employees of textile factory — so they tried to urge the state to improve their working conditions and raise their salaries. At that time, the protest has been been quickly dispersed by the police, who used hoses with ice water. But dissatisfaction of women only grew — two years later (in March) The first labour union for equality in women's right was created.

To the fact that this holiday is still with us we owe it to Clara Zetkin. Clara Zetkin is a journalist and activist of the international Social Democratic movement. She is also called a woman who stood at the origins of feminism. Throughout her political career, Clara has tried to achieve equality. She even launched a women's magazine named Die Gleichheit ("Equality") on behalf of the German Social Democratic Party, which published materials about famous women of her era. She also became one of the founders of the Communist Party of Germany. During an international conference in Copenhagen in 1910, she proposed to establish an International Day for equality of women’s rights. Clara’s idea has been supported by her closest friend and colleague Rosa Luxemburg.
