An exhibition "Art of China" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and China has opened at the A. Kasteev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the correspondent of Art of Her reports.
The exhibition "Art of China" presents about 100 unique works of art: traditional metal vessels (intended for sacrifice to ancestors), sculptural images of Buddhas, works of Chinese potters of the 18th and 21st centuries, traditional clothing of the 18th and 21st centuries, graphic works by artists of the 16th and 21st centuries, etc.
In total, the museum's own collection contains more than 1,000 exhibits of Chinese art in various types, techniques and styles.
"We wanted to give the viewer the opportunity to see each work, so the selection of exhibits for the exhibition was a kind of synthesis: we presented decorative and applied and fine arts together at once. As a rule, we used to do it separately, but now, in honor of such an event, we decided to do so," said the curator of the exhibition Maria Kopeliovich.
What makes Chinese art unique? In the Middle State, two distinctive teachings – Confucianism and Taoism – created the cultural climate in which Chinese art developed. The continuity of development and the peculiar combination of Taoism with Confucianism formed the effective content and form of Chinese art. They assume that an artist should be neither a classicist nor a romantic, he should be both. His style should combine both the general and the individual, be at the same time traditional and original.
"I want to convey with this exhibition that Chinese art needs to be approached in a special way. Here we are looking at the works, and they are reading. Learn to read and see works. Learning to see the beauty of each work, even a small one, is my main goal of the exhibition," said the curator of the exhibition Maria Kopeliovich.
In addition, in honor of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and China, the A. Kasteev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan presented the scientific catalog "Art of China". It includes about 800 exhibits from the museum's own collection.
