Latvian artist Karine Paronyants presented her works in Kazakhstan for the first time as part of her solo exhibition "Reborn from the Ashes..." at the Ular Gallery of Contemporary Art, Art of Her correspondent reports.

Karine Paronyants presents canvases from different creative periods at the exhibition – from purely decorative works to visual manifestos. The artist explains such a diverse selection of paintings as an opportunity to introduce Kazakhstanis to her style of work.

"This is my first time in Kazakhstan, and therefore, I realized that it's not worth starting right away with some very concise and restrained exhibition in one subject. I realized that I needed to do something like this flashback. I brought very different works from different periods. If the viewer is interested in a certain collection, he can get acquainted with it in detail on my website," the artist said.

In total, the exhibition "Reborn from the ashes ..." presents 23 canvases in which Karine Paronyants reflects on the cyclicity of wildlife and its multivariability, on the harmonious coexistence of the environment and human civilization. The artist's works combine both multiple botanical fantasies, and straightforwardness, and the structurality of human thinking.

It is important to note that the main artistic philosophy of Karine is "art marked BIO". Her canvases are old tablecloths, sheets and other natural fabrics with a history.

"I like when old things find a second life. I use old tablecloths and sheets, this has its own idea. These fabrics are imbued with their history. The main picture of the exhibition "The Color of pomegranate" is just painted on an old tablecloth, I left its edges on purpose. This tablecloth was our family, she remembers all the holidays and celebrations. After the write-off, she closed my desktop for a long time. And I understand that she absorbed all these periods: disappointments, ups, searches," Karine Paronyants shared.

The very name of the exhibition "Reborn from the ashes ..." refers the viewer to the recycling of old materials, using the example of old tablecloths and sheets of the artist.

"This year is very important – the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Latvia and Kazakhstan. I think it needs to be developed and maintained. Very often, culture, sports and art can do much more than politics," the artist said.

Karine Paronyants graduated from the Department of Monumental Painting of the Latvian Academy of Arts, studied the technique of frescoes and graffiti at the Florence Art Institute in Italy. Since 2007, she has been a member of the Latvian Artists' Union, has held more than twenty solo exhibitions in different cities throughout Latvia, regularly participates in group exhibitions of Latvian artists and international projects.
