The bar industry is developing by leaps and bounds in Kazakhstan. Sometimes it is difficult to surprise metropolitan residents with interesting places in their favorite city, so we offer you an overview of a completely new and experimental space — Collab ExSpace. It is quite difficult to call a collage only a bar, it is a full-fledged experimental platform where any guest can drink hot coffee or a unique author's cocktail, have breakfast with atmospheric music with a glass of prosecco, or come to a stylish jazz evening to the enchanting sounds of live vocals and a delicious dinner from the chef, or you can run in on a weekday lunch, suddenly getting to an exhibition of contemporary artists or a fashionable fashion brunch.
This is a relatively new place that opened its doors in March of this year. The idea of creating a Collab ExSpace originated with two interior designers Alfiya Eshmukhanbetova and Dina Iskakova.
We decided to open not just a design studio where we could comfortably create and create our projects, but also create a space that would embody our style. A place where anyone can come and truly experience not only the embodiment of design, but also attentive attitude to each guest. We have tried to combine aesthetics and service, especially focusing on beautiful serving and delicious food and drinks, atmosphere and high-quality networking. Despite the fact that the project is still very young, the team of professionals who create not only the atmosphere of this place, but also excellent dishes and drinks is very impressive.
That's why we have here about aesthetics not only in art, but also in food. The chef bartender creates at the bar, and the chef in the kitchen. All the ingredients that we use in food or drinks are made by hand. We even get date water here on our own. This is a really difficult process of working on ingredients for connoisseurs. In addition to the main offers of the restaurant, visitors can enjoy exhibitions of artists. Collab ExSpace cooperates with the Kulanshi Art Galleries and every two months their exposition is updated. The intimacy of the space and the high level of leisure were complemented by art and new ideas.
Various workshops, master classes are constantly held on this site, and not only on design and creativity, people far from art are still in the majority here. And it pleases, because we want to see people of different professions and different interests here. In parallel, we also introduce them to painting. Visiting us, they unwittingly study the paintings on the walls, with the opportunity to purchase them. Until the end of August, the exhibition of the French artist Eric Borel “Inside Beauty” is being held at the site of Collab ExSpace. The exhibition presents about 30 works. This is part of the exclusive works of the author, written in Kazakhstan over the past two years.
Since arriving in Kazakhstan, I have been working on a series of paintings. I give the main priority to portraits of Kazakhstani women. My childhood and youth were connected with Asian countries. I have a lot of plans for the future. I want to transfer natural reliefs and landscapes to the canvas," Eric Borel shared.
Eric Borel is in love with the beauty of Kazakh women. And this love is expressed in the unusual aesthetics of the fantastic realism of Western European art. Portraits of our contemporaries, reinterpreted works of old masters of Flemish painting and the Northern Renaissance inexplicably add up to an emotional visual series. Deep and sincere, surreal and understandable. Eric Borel writes beauty. The beauty that you need to look for inside your soul. The artist from the south of France previously painted landscapes of Provence on paper in the style of Van Gogh. Most of these works are kept in the collections of Kazakhstani art connoisseurs.

Collab ExSpace cooperates not only with Kulanshi, but is also open to collaborations with other interesting projects and personalities. Hence the name “Collab". Creative meetings, performances, lectures, vernissages, music and cocktail evenings all combine in a Collab ExSpace. Different people come to the experimental site. We really want to raise the cultural image of our capital. Astana is often not taken seriously, it is underestimated, disliked. I was born in this city. It has the right to claim the title of the best city, even if not in the world, but at least in our country. According to the founders of the space, there are plans to open branches of Collab ExSpace in other cities in the near future.
