The KULANSHI Contemporary Art Center and The Torium Restaurant open a new gallery in the capital, TORIUM KULANSHI ART, the KULANSHI press service reports.
"Step Up" is the gallery's first exhibition, dedicated to fantastic realism. The art space prsents artworks by 8 artists: Florian Messner (Austria), Daniyar Mukhambetov, Yulia Moskalenko, Aziza Sarambetova, Zhenis Molabekov, Kanat Abdin, Elena Mironenko and Madina Kuanysheva.
“Young Kazakh artists are participating in the exhibition. Some of them are more famous, some less, but all of their artworks represent a new stage of fine art development in our country. it is a new look, fresh ideas, and an unusual perspective of reality perception,” - says the press service KULANSHI.
Fantastic realism emerged as a separate style of painting in the second half of the 20th century in Austria. A movement with a paradoxical name was formed at the Vienna Academy of Arts, so the second name of the direction is the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. The artists presented their original artworks at an exhibition in Vienna in 1948 and became the founders of the style that has developed and is still popular today. The palette of colors was "radicalized" - some works were surprising with the brightness and unnaturalness of colors, while others had a gloomy and mysterious color. But regardless of the complexity or naivete of the performance, one thing remained unchanged: the obligatory hidden subtext.
Exhibition curator: Leila Mahat.
