The IV inclusive museum festival of children's creativity Meirim "Bakytty Bala" was held at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, reports BaigeNews.kz.
The event was organized within the framework of the Year of Children in Kazakhstan.
The festival was aimed to create an inclusive creative space for children with special educational needs, contributing to the disclosure of their creative potential, and the development of talents, as well as preparing children for an independent life in an inclusive society in the spirit of understanding, tolerance, and respect for differences.
The festival was held in the format of master classes. It was attended by 60 children and adolescents with special educational needs from seven to 18 years old, their family members, as well as children from poor and large families.
In the master classes, children made rainbow paintings from wool, tumaras (amulets - ed.), created picturesque landscapes from plasticine, geometric figures from clay, and also painted in different styles.
The master class "Clay therapy" was conducted by the teacher of gymnasium No. 65 Asel Kaysanova. The master class "Drawing together in Pointelize style" was conducted by art therapist Kuldraikhan Zhunusbekova and the master class "Intuitive painting" - psychologist, art therapist Toizhan Iskakova.
The head of the service of excursion work, museum pedagogy and preservation of the exhibition halls of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhanar Beisova said that inclusive festivals of children's creativity are held annually in the museum. And this year, the fourth inclusive festival for children with special educational needs has already been organized.
"The purpose of this event is to create an inclusive atmosphere for such children, to identify their talents, abilities, to give them an impetus to develop and express themselves. To do so, within the framework of the festival, we organized several master classes, for example, on felting, clay therapy, the creation of amulets, and intuitive painting. This is exactly what helps children develop. These master classes are conducted by specialists from correctional schools, public foundations," Zhanar Beisova said.
At one of the tables where children gathered, a master class on drawing with plasticine was held.
The teacher, sign language interpreter Aisulu Sebenova, who conducted this master class, told how the idea came about.
"At this table, children create portraits from plasticine. There is a famous Russian artist Natalia Turnova, who visited a house where people with disabilities live. And there on the bench, she saw an old lady, who was sad, thinking of something. Natalia had a desire to paint a picture of plasticine and portray this old lady. It was not necessary that the face was drawn, but with the help of certain colors she tried to convey the mood of this old woman," the teacher said.
