Art of Her

The famous artist Katya Kan presented her new solo exhibition "Central Asian Ether", in which the performance "Time and Space" will be shown, Art of Her reports.

The Central Asian Ether exhibition is Katya Kan's research on self-identity, ethnic atomization and long residence in a different political culture, objectification of the female body in the Internet space, emancipation from social superstructures, conveying in her works an eclectic artistic expression of the processes of globalization, surveillance, nostalgia, utopia and eroticism.

In addition, Katya Kan presented for the first time a series of works dedicated to the digitalization of the art market at the junction of Kazakhstan's cultural codes.

The exhibition consists of 30 works in various techniques: collage, painting, drawing, video art, assemblage and textiles created in the last 5 years. The works were created in the residences of Kazakhstan, Italy and England.

As part of the solo exhibition on September 30 at 19:30, Katya Kan will present her new performance "Time and Space" together with Anna Tsoi (State Republican Korean Musical Comedy Theater). The performance is literally woven from the thoughts of people, the interpretation of which will remain an important documentation of our time.

Katya Kan was born in 1988 in Almaty, currently lives in London. For an artist, art is an act of searching, assembling and perpetuating beauty. Katya Kan recreates the state of freedom experienced in childhood and strives to capture the ephemerality. The artist's works have been exhibited at the Whitechapel Gallery and ICA in London among other prestigious international exhibitions, including Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles and Untitled Space in New York.

Katya Kan's solo exhibition "Central Asian Ether" will last until October 17, 2022.
